Physiotherapy for Australian Unity Members in Seaton

Australian Unity accepted — claim on the spot

Claim on the spot at reception — no forms, no waiting for reimbursement.

Australian Unity members are welcome at UpPlus Physiotherapy and can claim their physiotherapy rebate on the spot through HICAPS.

Australian Unity is a mutual rather than a listed insurer, and its extras packages tend to be built in tiers where the physiotherapy limit rises with the level of cover. That makes checking your annual limit worthwhile before starting a course of treatment.

Claiming your Australian Unity rebate at UpPlus

We claim at reception through HICAPS, so your Australian Unity rebate is deducted immediately and you pay only the difference by card. Nothing is posted, nothing is reimbursed weeks later, and you leave with the claim already settled.

  • Bring your fund card — the physical card or the one in your fund's app.
  • No referral required. Physiotherapy is a direct-access profession in Australia.
  • Pay the gap only, by card, on the day.
  • Tell us if you are near your annual limit so we can plan treatment around it.

Our fees and item numbers

Item Consultation Fee
500 Assessment consultation Your first visit: history, physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment. On your statement: ASSMENT CONSULT $98
505 Subsequent consultation A standard follow-up visit. On your statement: SUB CONSULT $79
506 Long subsequent consultation (2 areas) A longer follow-up where more than one area is treated. On your statement: LONG CONS 2A $89

Fees are current at the date of publication and may change. Your rebate depends on your level of extras cover, your annual limit and any waiting periods, so the gap you pay is set by your fund, not by us. Your fund can confirm your exact rebate before you attend.

New patients can also use our initial consultation offer — terms are on that page.

How Australian Unity extras handle physiotherapy

Two numbers decide what you pay: the benefit Australian Unity pays per physiotherapy consultation, and how much of your annual physiotherapy limit remains for the calendar year. Both are visible in your online member account, and Australian Unity will quote them over the phone.

Australian Unity also structures some covers with a combined limit across several extras services rather than a dedicated physiotherapy limit. Where that applies, dental or optical claims earlier in the year can quietly reduce what is left for physiotherapy — so the figure to ask for is what remains for physiotherapy specifically, not the headline extras limit.

Who Australian Unity covers

Australian Unity is an open fund available to anyone. It has been a mutual since 1840, and health insurance sits alongside its banking and aged care arms. Physiotherapy is claimed under extras cover in the usual way, and your card works at any registered physiotherapist.

What we treat

Our Seaton clinic on Trimmer Parade sees back and neck pain, shoulder and knee problems, sporting injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, work injuries and persistent pain. Alongside hands-on treatment we offer dry needling, shockwave therapy and hydrotherapy, and we see patients from Grange, West Lakes, Findon, Fulham Gardens and Port Adelaide.

Australian Unity physiotherapy questions

Can I claim Australian Unity on the spot?

Yes. We process the claim through HICAPS at reception and you pay only the gap.

My policy has a combined extras limit — how does that work for physio?

On a combined limit, all your extras claims draw from the same pool, so dental or optical earlier in the year reduces what is left for physiotherapy. Ask Australian Unity what remains for physiotherapy specifically rather than relying on the overall figure.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. Physiotherapy is a primary contact profession in Australia, so you can book directly with us. A GP referral only becomes relevant when the treatment is funded by Medicare, DVA or WorkCover rather than your private extras.

What if I have already used my annual physiotherapy limit?

You can still be treated — you simply pay the full fee for those visits with no rebate. Tell us if you are close to your limit and we will plan your treatment around it, which usually means spacing visits and giving you more to do at home between them.

Do waiting periods apply to physiotherapy?

Usually yes, on a new policy or after an upgrade. Extras waiting periods for physiotherapy are commonly two months, though this varies by fund and by policy. Your fund can tell you the exact date you become eligible.

Contacting Australian Unity

We can tell you our fee. Only Australian Unity can tell you your rebate, your remaining annual limit and whether any waiting period still applies — so if you want to know your exact out-of-pocket before you book, they are the ones to ask.
