Bupa members are welcome at UpPlus Physiotherapy and can claim their rebate on the spot through HICAPS, the same as members of any other fund.

One thing worth saying plainly rather than burying: we are not currently a Bupa Members First provider. Members First is Bupa's preferred network, and members treated inside it usually receive a higher benefit. You can still claim with us and many Bupa members do — but on most policies your gap here will be a little higher than at a Members First clinic. You should know that before you book, not after.

If that matters to you, Bupa's website lists Members First physios near you. If what matters more is seeing the same physiotherapist every visit at a clinic five minutes away, we would be glad to look after you.

Claiming your Bupa rebate at UpPlus

We claim at reception through HICAPS, so your Bupa rebate is deducted immediately and you pay only the difference by card. Nothing is posted, nothing is reimbursed weeks later, and you leave with the claim already settled.

How Bupa extras handle physiotherapy

Your Bupa extras rebate for physiotherapy applies wherever you are treated by a registered physiotherapist. Network membership changes the size of the benefit, not your eligibility — that distinction is the one most people get wrong, and it stops a lot of members from seeking treatment at a clinic that would suit them better.

Bupa's extras tiers set both a benefit per consultation and an annual limit, and many policies pay a higher amount on the first visit of the calendar year. The Bupa app shows your remaining limit. If you are within a couple of visits of it, tell us — we can adjust how we space your treatment rather than letting you discover it at reception.

We swipe your card at reception, the rebate is deducted immediately, and you pay the remainder by card. Nothing is posted and nothing is reimbursed weeks later. If you would like to know your out-of-pocket in advance, Bupa can quote the benefit payable on a physiotherapy consultation for your level of cover, and we can tell you our fee — the difference between the two is what you will pay.
