Physiotherapy for HBF Members in Seaton
HBF accepted — claim on the spot
HBF cover works in South Australia — claim it here, on the spot.
HBF began in Western Australia and is best known there, but HBF cover is not limited to WA. If you have moved to Adelaide and kept your policy, your physiotherapy extras still work — and we claim them on the spot at reception.
That catches a lot of people out, so it is worth stating plainly: you do not need to change funds to be treated here, and you do not need to pay in full and claim back later.
Claiming your HBF rebate at UpPlus
We claim at reception through HICAPS, so your HBF rebate is deducted immediately and you pay only the difference by card. Nothing is posted, nothing is reimbursed weeks later, and you leave with the claim already settled.
- Bring your fund card — the physical card or the one in your fund's app.
- No referral required. Physiotherapy is a direct-access profession in Australia.
- Pay the gap only, by card, on the day.
- Tell us if you are near your annual limit so we can plan treatment around it.

How HBF extras handle physiotherapy
HBF is a not-for-profit and its extras cover applies Australia-wide, not only in Western Australia. Physiotherapy sits within extras, with a benefit per consultation and an annual limit that both follow the tier you hold.
The one genuine difference for an HBF member living in Adelaide is that HBF's own preferred provider network is concentrated in WA, so an eastern-states member is usually claiming outside it wherever they go. That does not reduce your entitlement — it simply means the benefit is the standard one for your cover, and it is the same at any Adelaide clinic.
Using HBF cover in Adelaide
HBF is open to members nationally. Your card works at any registered physiotherapist in South Australia and claims process through HICAPS in the normal way. HBF's member portal shows your remaining physiotherapy limit for the calendar year.
What we treat
Our Seaton clinic on Trimmer Parade sees back and neck pain, shoulder and knee problems, sporting injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, work injuries and persistent pain. Alongside hands-on treatment we offer dry needling, shockwave therapy and hydrotherapy, and we see patients from Grange, West Lakes, Findon, Fulham Gardens and Port Adelaide.
HBF physiotherapy questions
Does my HBF cover work outside Western Australia?
Yes. HBF extras cover applies nationally, so you can be treated in Adelaide and claim normally.
Will I get less back because I'm not in WA?
Your benefit is set by your level of cover, not your postcode. HBF's preferred provider network is concentrated in WA, so most eastern-states members claim the standard benefit — which is the same wherever in Adelaide you are treated.
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No. Physiotherapy is a primary contact profession in Australia, so you can book directly with us. A GP referral only becomes relevant when the treatment is funded by Medicare, DVA or WorkCover rather than your private extras.
What if I have already used my annual physiotherapy limit?
You can still be treated — you simply pay the full fee for those visits with no rebate. Tell us if you are close to your limit and we will plan your treatment around it, which usually means spacing visits and giving you more to do at home between them.
Do waiting periods apply to physiotherapy?
Usually yes, on a new policy or after an upgrade. Extras waiting periods for physiotherapy are commonly two months, though this varies by fund and by policy. Your fund can tell you the exact date you become eligible.
Contacting HBF
We can tell you our fee. Only HBF can tell you your rebate, your remaining annual limit and whether any waiting period still applies — so if you want to know your exact out-of-pocket before you book, they are the ones to ask.
