Medibank Members' Choice Physiotherapy in Seaton
Medibank Members' Choice Advantage provider
A Members' Choice Advantage provider — Medibank members pay a known, capped gap.
UpPlus Physiotherapy is a Medibank Members' Choice Advantage provider. That agreement matters for one practical reason: Medibank sets a maximum gap for members treated at a Members' Choice practice, so you know what you will pay before you walk in rather than after the rebate lands.
Away from a Members' Choice provider, a Medibank member pays whatever the clinic charges and claims back whatever their extras allow — and the difference between those two numbers is entirely up to the clinic. Inside the network it is capped. Over a course of physiotherapy, which is rarely a single visit, that gap is the number that adds up.
We are five minutes from West Lakes on Trimmer Parade in Seaton, we claim at reception, and you do not need a referral to book.
Claiming your Medibank rebate at UpPlus
We claim at reception through HICAPS, so your Medibank rebate is deducted immediately and you pay only the difference by card. Nothing is posted, nothing is reimbursed weeks later, and you leave with the claim already settled.
- Bring your fund card — the physical card or the one in your fund's app.
- No referral required. Physiotherapy is a direct-access profession in Australia.
- Pay the gap only, by card, on the day.
- Tell us if you are near your annual limit so we can plan treatment around it.

How Medibank extras handle physiotherapy
Physiotherapy sits in the extras half of a Medibank policy, never the hospital half — a hospital-only policy pays nothing towards a clinic visit, which catches people out every year. Within extras, Medibank's packages step up through tiers, and each tier sets both the benefit paid per consultation and the annual limit you can claim to.
Two details are worth knowing before a course of treatment. Medibank's annual limits run on the calendar year and reset on 1 January, so treatment started in November effectively draws on two years' limits if it continues into the new year. And many policies pay a higher benefit on your first consultation of the year than on subsequent ones. My Medibank, in the app or online, shows exactly what you have used and what remains.
Which Medibank policies this applies to
Members' Choice benefits apply to any extras policy that includes physiotherapy. The size of your rebate still follows the tier you hold, so two Medibank members can walk out of the same appointment having paid different amounts — the cap limits the gap, it does not flatten it. If you are choosing between Medibank tiers with physiotherapy in mind, the number to compare is the benefit per consultation, not just the annual limit.
ahm is part of the Medibank group but runs its own policies and extras structure — see our ahm page if that is the card you hold.

Medibank physiotherapy questions
How much will I actually pay as a Medibank member?
You pay the gap — the part your extras don't cover. Because we are a Members' Choice Advantage provider, Medibank caps that gap for physiotherapy, so it cannot run away from you. The exact figure depends on your policy, and Medibank can quote it before you attend.
Can I claim Medibank on the spot?
Yes. We process Medibank claims through HICAPS at reception, so the rebate is deducted immediately and you pay only the difference by card.
Does my hospital cover pay for physiotherapy at your clinic?
No. Clinic physiotherapy is claimed under extras. Hospital cover applies to physiotherapy delivered as part of an admission, which is a different thing entirely.
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No. Physiotherapy is a primary contact profession in Australia, so you can book directly with us. A GP referral only becomes relevant when the treatment is funded by Medicare, DVA or WorkCover rather than your private extras.
What if I have already used my annual physiotherapy limit?
You can still be treated — you simply pay the full fee for those visits with no rebate. Tell us if you are close to your limit and we will plan your treatment around it, which usually means spacing visits and giving you more to do at home between them.
Do waiting periods apply to physiotherapy?
Usually yes, on a new policy or after an upgrade. Extras waiting periods for physiotherapy are commonly two months, though this varies by fund and by policy. Your fund can tell you the exact date you become eligible.
Contacting Medibank
We can tell you our fee. Only Medibank can tell you your rebate, your remaining annual limit and whether any waiting period still applies — so if you want to know your exact out-of-pocket before you book, they are the ones to ask.
