nib First Choice Physiotherapy in Seaton

nib First Choice provider

A First Choice provider — and the same usually applies to nib's partner brands.

UpPlus Physiotherapy is an nib First Choice physiotherapy provider. First Choice is nib's preferred network, and members treated inside it generally receive a higher benefit — on some covers, no gap at all on a standard consultation.

The part most people miss: nib underwrites a number of other health insurance brands, and First Choice benefits usually follow them. If your card says Suncorp, AAMI, Apia, TAL, Real Insurance, Seniors, Qantas or GU Health, you are very likely covered by the same arrangement even though the word nib appears nowhere on it. Bring the card and we will check it at reception before you commit to anything.

No referral is needed, and we claim at reception so you pay only the gap.

Claiming your nib rebate at UpPlus

We claim at reception through HICAPS, so your nib rebate is deducted immediately and you pay only the difference by card. Nothing is posted, nothing is reimbursed weeks later, and you leave with the claim already settled.

  • Bring your fund card — the physical card or the one in your fund's app.
  • No referral required. Physiotherapy is a direct-access profession in Australia.
  • Pay the gap only, by card, on the day.
  • Tell us if you are near your annual limit so we can plan treatment around it.

Our fees and item numbers

Item Consultation Fee
500 Assessment consultation Your first visit: history, physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment. On your statement: ASSMENT CONSULT $98
505 Subsequent consultation A standard follow-up visit. On your statement: SUB CONSULT $79
506 Long subsequent consultation (2 areas) A longer follow-up where more than one area is treated. On your statement: LONG CONS 2A $89

Fees are current at the date of publication and may change. Your rebate depends on your level of extras cover, your annual limit and any waiting periods, so the gap you pay is set by your fund, not by us. Your fund can confirm your exact rebate before you attend.

New patients can also use our initial consultation offer — terms are on that page.

How nib extras handle physiotherapy

nib's extras policies are built in tiers, and physiotherapy appears on most of them — but the benefit per visit and the annual limit move considerably between the entry-level and the top covers. Some nib policies also apply a separate sub-limit to physiotherapy inside a broader 'general extras' pool, which means your physiotherapy allowance can run out while the overall limit still shows a balance.

That is worth checking specifically rather than assuming, and nib's app shows it. Waiting periods on extras also apply to new policies and upgrades, so if you have recently joined or moved up a tier, confirm the date you become eligible before booking a course of treatment.

nib and its partner brands

nib is an open fund available to anyone, and it also underwrites health cover sold under partner brands including Suncorp Health Insurance, AAMI Health Insurance, Apia, TAL, Real Insurance, Seniors Health Insurance, Qantas Insurance and GU Health. Members of those brands generally claim through nib's systems and access the First Choice network on the same basis — we confirm it when we swipe the card, so there is no risk in simply bringing it in.

What we treat

Our Seaton clinic on Trimmer Parade sees back and neck pain, shoulder and knee problems, sporting injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, work injuries and persistent pain. Alongside hands-on treatment we offer dry needling, shockwave therapy and hydrotherapy, and we see patients from Grange, West Lakes, Findon, Fulham Gardens and Port Adelaide.

nib physiotherapy questions

My card says Suncorp, not nib. Does First Choice still apply?

In most cases yes — nib underwrites Suncorp health cover and the First Choice network normally applies. We confirm it at reception when we swipe the card, before you commit to anything.

What does First Choice save me?

It raises the benefit nib pays per consultation, which lowers your gap. The exact amount depends on your extras tier, and nib can tell you your rebate for physiotherapy item numbers before you attend.

Can I claim nib on the spot?

Yes, through HICAPS at reception. Nothing is posted and nothing is reimbursed later.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No. Physiotherapy is a primary contact profession in Australia, so you can book directly with us. A GP referral only becomes relevant when the treatment is funded by Medicare, DVA or WorkCover rather than your private extras.

What if I have already used my annual physiotherapy limit?

You can still be treated — you simply pay the full fee for those visits with no rebate. Tell us if you are close to your limit and we will plan your treatment around it, which usually means spacing visits and giving you more to do at home between them.

Do waiting periods apply to physiotherapy?

Usually yes, on a new policy or after an upgrade. Extras waiting periods for physiotherapy are commonly two months, though this varies by fund and by policy. Your fund can tell you the exact date you become eligible.

Contacting nib

We can tell you our fee. Only nib can tell you your rebate, your remaining annual limit and whether any waiting period still applies — so if you want to know your exact out-of-pocket before you book, they are the ones to ask.
